Key Responsibilities:

  • Wound Care: Provide basic wound care as directed by a physician or nurse, ensuring proper cleaning, dressing changes, and infection prevention techniques. Maintain meticulous documentation of wound assessments and treatments.
  • Assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living): Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed, such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility, while respecting their dignity and independence.
  • Maintaining Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each resident, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, following established emergency protocols and assisting with resident evacuation if necessary.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Properly maintain and clean medical equipment, ensuring its functionality and safety. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain open and effective communication with residents, their families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. Collaborate effectively within the healthcare team to ensure the best possible care for residents.
  • Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols and practices to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for residents and staff.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Possession of a valid CMA or LPN license is required. Experience in a long-term care or assisted living setting is preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification: Current certification in CPR and First Aid is essential.
  • Medication Administration Experience: Demonstrated experience in accurately administering medications, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology: A strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures is necessary.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, families, and colleagues.
